Ljubica was born in Croatia in 1950 and lived her life across Iran, Austria, India, Lebanon, Croatia and the UK . She was a documentary film director who made more than 200 documentaries in her lifetime. Her movies primarily focused on the lives of people and social themes. She was also an amateur painter and a great proponent of all art forms. Ljubica passed away at the Royal Marsden Hospital on June 20, 2024.
She spent many days at Café Roma during her treatment at the RMH. Her family and her hugely appreciate the excellent care the team at the Royal Marsden, Dr John Butler and Dr Susan Lalondrelle provided and by the warmth and hospitality that Café Roma, Elvin and his family always offered.

The gallery is curated by Dr John Butler, who is a leading gynaecological surgeon at the Royal Marsden and the conduit behind the renovation. He lovingly treated Ljubica and many patients just like her and is also a keen photographer.

Special thanks for the renovation go to Amelia Carter and Agata Wejchert who kindly donated their time to design the interior of the café, and to Leszek who carried out the renovation.
In difficult times, good people bring light and joy, helping us walk the deeply human journey we all share. We hope that the Café’s new look, as well as it’s gallery will continue to bring joy to everyone who comes to visit.
